Originally, the mod was released to temporarily replace RedPower 2's Microblock system, however, it turned into a replacement that is also used by several other mods. Tried with vanilla Minecraft sticks and iron as well, though all sticks should work according to NEI.

Since it has open libraries to use, many mods add the possibility to use their own blocks as Multiparts and add Multipart compatibility for their own tiles (for example: Thermal Expansion's Fluiducts or Applied Energistics 2's ME Tiles). Place the mod into the mods folder (if you do not have one, make one or just launch the Minecraft once with Forge). Havent tried the other saws yet but I cant craft this one.

Also i believe somewhere there is a set of configs that adds microblocks for a lot of mods that dont by default, if someone has the link that would be useful here. Cutting Blocks: Place any saw in a crafting grid directly above any block. These slabs can be placed in many different orientations throughout the world to create interesting compound shapes that would normally be impossible in vanilla Minecraft.
